The name Alley Theatre came about because the first show I produced, Confessions, took place in a coffee shop in Railspur Alley on Granville Island.
So far Alley Theatre has yet to produce a show in an actual theatre space and, as such, we've sort of accidentally had a mandate to put on performances in non-traditional theatre environments. But in the spirit of all things Fringy I don't wish to be any more specific with a mandate at this point.
I will say this though, I love finding great writing and over the past couple of years, I've had the opportunity to work with some great material, whether it be a published, awarding winning play like Tape, or brand new works by a local writers like some of the plays in Wicked Shorts. I very much look forward to what comes my way in the future!
