Judith Fair

Alley Theatre is inviting submissions from womxn and people who are non-binary for a live variety night called Judith Fair. All performance styles are welcome - theatre, dance, music, stand up, sketch, spoken word, puppetry, burlesque and more!

The Fair was initiated in 2015 alongside Tracey Power’s Miss Shakespeare and J Ceasar and then again in 2019 at the Cultch in celebration of International Women’s Day. This year, we are taking the experience outdoors!

COVD-19 Safety The event will include social distanced seating, backstage, and tech areas, and masks and sanitizer for all performers, staff, and audience members. We will keep up to date with public health requirements to ensure safety for all involved.

When/Where: mid September, 2020 (exact Date TBD) in what is currently called Vancouver on the unceded territories of thexʷməθkwəyə̓ m (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl ̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations.

Compensation: A budget of $ 100-150 will be paid to each act, plus all box office proceeds will be shared equally between all acts.

Application Guidelines: All participants should be people who connect with any, some, or all of these identities: trans women, cis woman, non-binary, two-spirit, genderfluid, gender non-conforming genderqueer, agender etc. Equity members and non-members are welcome to apply. Performance pieces should be 2-10 minutes in length with minimal tech.

Applications: Maximum 1 page. Please include a brief description or synopsis of the performance piece, a list of participants, and a quick note about why the piece is important to you. Please also include a script for your piece if there is one.
